AFT Missouri Endorses Donna Jones and Wendy Goss for St. Louis Board of Education

ST. LOUIS — AFT Missouri has endorsed Donna Jones and Wendy Goss for the St. Louis Public Schools Board of Education in the November 3, 2026 election, when voters will select two candidates for the board.
Donna Jones brings nearly two decades of experience serving St. Louis Public Schools and a deep understanding of the district’s history, governance, and communities. She was first elected to the Board of Education in 2006 and remained part of the elected board through the years when governance authority was transferred to the Special Administrative Board. She later continued serving as local control was restored to the elected board.
Her years of service give her extensive institutional knowledge of SLPS and firsthand experience navigating periods of major transition. Jones has remained involved in conversations about the future of the district, neighborhood schools, student opportunities, and the role families and communities should have in decisions affecting public education. In 2025, the City of St. Louis recognized Donna Jones for 19 years of dedicated leadership and service, underscoring her longstanding commitment to St. Louis families and public education.
Wendy Goss brings 28 years of experience in public education, including service as a teacher, department chair, curriculum leader, and mentor. She also spent six years teaching in St. Louis Public Schools. Wendy Goss brings a leadership approach centered on student success, strong instruction, educator support, responsible use of district resources, and meaningful engagement with teachers, students, families, and the broader community.
As Election Day approaches, AFT Missouri is encouraging educators, families, union members, and community stakeholders to stay engaged, learn about the candidates, and make a plan to participate in the election. Two St. Louis Board of Education seats will be decided on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
