AFT St. Louis Local 420 congratulates Donna R. Jones and Wendy Goss on their successful campaigns for the St. Louis Board of Education. With all polling places reporting, the city’s unofficial November 3 results show both candidates earning the two available seats. We are proud to celebrate this achievement with our members and the St. Louis community.

We also celebrate Missouri voters’ approval of Amendment 6, an important victory for protecting the public’s voice. The measure strengthens the citizen initiative process and requires proposed legislative changes to voter-approved initiatives to return to voters after receiving the required legislative support. Its passage reinforces a principle central to our advocacy: the decisions voters make deserve to be respected.

AFT Local 420 and AFT Missouri endorsed Donna R. Jones and Wendy Goss and encouraged a YES vote on Amendment 6. Throughout the campaign, our communications highlighted the candidates, explained our recommendations, shared voting information, and encouraged members, families, and supporters to participate. These efforts kept public education and community representation at the center of our election message.

A successful campaign takes dedication from candidates and support from the community. We thank the educators, school support staff, families, volunteers, and voters who supported these efforts. To everyone who shared campaign information, encouraged someone to vote, or took time to cast a ballot, thank you for making your voice heard.

Donna R. Jones brings longstanding service to St. Louis Public Schools and a deep understanding of the district’s communities. Wendy Goss brings 28 years of experience in public education, including six years teaching in St. Louis Public Schools. Their experience offers valuable perspective on the needs of students, educators, and families.

AFT Local 420 also thanks Quentin Wilson, who received the endorsement of both AFT Local 420 and AFT Missouri, for his campaign for Missouri State Auditor. We appreciate his commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public dollars, and we thank the voters who supported him.

As we celebrate these victories, Local 420 remains committed to advocating for strong neighborhood schools, respect for educators and support staff, and meaningful participation by families. We look forward to working with Donna, Wendy, and the entire Board of Education to keep students’ needs at the center of district decisions.

Congratulations, Donna and Wendy. Thank you, St. Louis and Missouri voters, for supporting our endorsed candidates, protecting the people’s voice, and helping make this campaign a success.
